Poster Contest for 2025 Books Along the Teche Literary Festival

The Books Along the Teche Literary Festival will return April 4th through 6th, 2025 and invites artists to submit their designs for our Annual Poster. See the requirements below to submit your best for the fest.

DESIGN CRITERIA

  1. Print Process: four-color process
  2. Design: The design shall be of professional quality with a theme oriented to the
    literary festival that celebrates Dave Robicheaux’s hometown, Main Street New Iberia, James Lee Burke, and other Southern Writers.
  3. Size: 16” by 20” height, full color on canvas
  4. Medium: Acrylic, oil, water color, or digitally designed artwork.
  5. Special Notes: Please submit artwork without a title. The title is added when the
    winning design goes to print.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR SUBMISSION

  • Submit your design(s) no later than Thursday, Dec. 5th, 2024 at 3 p.m., at the Shadows Visitor Center, 320 E. Main St. in New Iberia, LA.
  • Type or print your name, address, email address and phone number on a single sheet of paper. This paper should also include the following statement: “I give my authority to warrant full ownership thereof to the Iberia Preservation Alliance,” signed and dated by the artist.
  • Place the single sheet of paper in a sealed envelope, and attach it to the rear surface of the art work.

SPECIFICATIONS

  • The selected design shall become the property of the Iberia Preservation Alliance (IPA). The artist relinquishes all interests and rights of ownership of the design. The winning artist also consents to the use and copyright of the design (and all copies and reproductions thereof by the IPA), and waives and relinquishes in favor of the IPA all rights and claims of ownership, all benefits, revenues and royalties derived therefrom. Announcement of the winning artist, credit given to the artist, or use of the artist’s name by the IPA, shall not in any way imply proprietary rights or ownership by the artist.
  • A $500 prize will be awarded to the winning artist.
  • The decision of the judges and the Books Along the Teche Literary Festival Steering Committee will be final, and the Books Along the Teche Steering Committee reserves the right to reject (without explanation) any or all submissions.
  • The winning design will be chosen shortly after the deadline of Thursday, December 5th, 2024. The winning artist will be notified immediately.
  • All other artists will also be notified and their artwork should be picked up no later than Dec. 17, 2024 at the Shadows Visitor Center. Any submissions not picked up will become the property of the IPA.

About the Festival

With a focus on Great Southern Writers, the Books Along the Teche Literary Festival highlights Iberia Parish authors and others who write about the unique culture of Louisiana. Events include cooking demonstrations, workshops on writing, book fair, academic symposiums, receptions, poetry, music, live oak walk, movie screenings, children’s activities, readers theater and more. Participants can learn Cajun dancing, and tour the areas described in the Dave Robicheaux novels.

The festival is presented by the New Iberia Main Street Program and The Iberia Preservation Alliance (a coalition of Iberia Cultural Resources AssociationBayou Teche Museum and Shadows-on-the-Teche).
