Cheré Dastugue Coen of New Orleans is a travel writer and author now living in Georgia. She is the author of Exploring Cajun Country and Haunted Lafayette, Louisiana, plus Southern-based novels under the pen name of Cherie Claire. Her Viola Valentine mystery series features a New Orleans travel writer who survives Katrina only to see ghosts who have died by water — and mysteries to solve everywhere she travels.
Cheré spent years working as a features editor and writer for newspapers and magazines across the country, including Variety magazine in Hollywood, Louisiana Life, AAA and Acadiana Profile. Her favorite niche is the South and its people, which is why she also pens the quirky blog, Weird, Wacky and Wild South (WeirdSouth.com). She is a graduate of LSU with a degree in journalism and a master of art in writing from the Naslund-Mann Graduate School of Writing at Spalding University.
