Join 64 Parishes magazine’s editorial staff and two regular contributors for a conversation on the nuts
and bolts of writing for (and pitching to) magazines.
Panelists:

Rien Fertel is a columnist for 64 Parishes and the author of four books: Imagining the Creole City, The
One True Barbecue, Southern Rock Opera, and, most recently, Brown Pelican. He currently is a visiting
professor of history at Tulane University. Originally from Lafayette, he splits his time between New
Orleans and St. Martinville.

Erin Greenwald is editor in chief of 64 Parishes magazine and website. She is also a published author,
historian, and curator with deep roots in the public humanities. Since 2018 she has served as vice
president of public programs at the Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities.

Kevin Rabalais is a Louisiana-born writer and photographer who has contributed freelance stories to 64
Parishes, Tin House, Louisiana Life, Kenyon Review and more. He currently teaches writing and literature
at Loyola University in New Orleans

Chris Turner-Neal is senior managing editor of 64 Parishes magazine. He has previously worked as a
freelance writer and editor, writing tutor, history teacher, and arts and entertainment editor for Country
Roads magazine.
